Job Description

The National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) whose main objective to ensure security of fuel supply in Malawi is a wholly owned Malawi Government Company established under the Company’s Act of 1984 on the 10th December 2010 and commenced its operation in 2012. NOCMA is responsible tor managing the Country’s million liters Strategic Fuel Reserves situated in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu; and smaller depots in Chilumba, Chipoka and Mchinji.

Over the past eight (8) years, the Company has grown tremendously in its national strategic importance with its fuel importation market share growing from ten percent (10%) in 2015 to an average of sixty percent (60%) in 2019/20 and this has been matched with growth in Institutional capacity and investments to enable efficiency and effectiveness in executing its mandate.

In its drive to censure improved and sustained efficiency and effectiveness in delivery of its mandate. NOCMA is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced candidates to fill various highly rewarding positions that have arisen within the Company.

Job Title : Internal Audit Officer – Technical



Department : Internal Audit and Risk Management Section


Grade: NOC6


Reporting to : Internal Audit Manager


Responsible for: None


Purpose of the Job :

To provide support in the management and administration of internal audit and risk management services.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the development and review of annual audit plans
  • Carrying out risk based audits in line with approved audit programs/plans and pre-planned work papers in order to identify improvement opportunities for various operations
  • Conducting stock taking at fuel depots
  • Drafting audit reports, monthly audit findings, tracking reports and stock taking reports
  • Assisting in monitoring implementation of audit results communicated to management
  • Facilitation of risk management training and assisting in the review of functional/departmental risk registers
  • Assisting in the provision of consulting services such as incident investigations.
  • Assisting in the development and review of annual budget for internal audit function and individual budgets for each engagement



Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Operational experience in oil and gas industry
  • A minimum of four (4) years’ practical experience in auditing


Additional Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of internal audit procedures, planning, techniques and methods
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting and auditing systems
  • Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate facts and to reports
  • Professionalism and positive attitude.
  • Good communication skills
  • Prescribes and believes in the Code of Ethics for Internal Auditors.
  • An ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Must be available tor extensive travel to all NOCMA Depots.
