Job Description

Applications are invited for suitably qualified and experienced professionals who would like to pursue a career in Audit at First Capital Bank Plc. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Audit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Internal Audit in scoping audits through identifying, assessing and documenting risks and controls.
  • Support the Head of Internal Audit in formulating the annual internal audit plan.
  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of controls and document this understanding in Teammate, First Capital Bank Plc’s Audit Management System.
  • Regularly update the Head Internal Audit and audit team on progress and observations from audits.
  • Draft audit observations and support the Head of Internal Audit in writing reports.
  • Collaborate with the Risk Department in assessing the closure of audit issues as per agreed timelines.
  • Supervise and review work done by a team of internal auditors and ensure that all conclusions are supported by work Teammate.
  • Hold discussions with executive and senior management of the bank on audit matters.
  • Support the Head of Internal Audit in producing Audit Committee meeting packs.
  • Support the Heads of Internal Audit in the group subsidiaries in delivering internal financial controls audits and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) related reviews across the Group.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by Head Internal Audit, Group Head of IT Audit and Group Head of Internal Audit.

Personal competencies

The successful candidate will among others be required to have the following knowledge and skills:

  • Knowledge of Internal Auditing Standards.
  • Sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Strong knowledge of local banking laws and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and IT proficiency.


  • Candidates must possess a degree from a recognized and reputable institution in Internal Audit, Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or other related disciplines plus a professional qualification such as ACCA or related.


  • Minimum four (4) years’ verifiable experience in audit and risk management from a reputable public accounting firm or financial institution.
