Job Description


DAPP Malawi in partnership with VALE Logistics Limited and CEAR will implement a one year capacity building project in areas of vocational skills training among households along Kachasu - Nayuchi railway line (covering five districts of Machinga, Balaka, Mwanza, Neno and Chikwawa) with an aim of improving the socio-economic and environmental conditions of the population under the influence of operations, through a set of actions that guarantee income generation in order to raise their quality of life and the sustainability of communities. The trainings will be carried out through an outreach program.

DAPP Malawi therefore seeks to hire services of qualified individuals for the following positions:

Instructors (9 posts)
in the following disciplines; Masonry/Bricklaying; Carpentry and Joinery; Textile and Fashion Designing (Tailoring); Electrical Installation; Motorcycle Mechanics; Hospitality (Food Production); Hairdressing Salon (Cosmetology); Landscaping and Ground Maintenance and Marketing/ Entrepreneurship.

For a period of six months, the instructors will be responsible to give vocational education and training to the VALE/CEAR railway line affected people.

Specific duties include:

  • To provide training  to vulnerable men, women, girls , elderly and people with disabilities
  • To Facilitate  attachment opportunities  for the beneficiaries training
  • To develop an awareness of the role and importance of industry in society
  • To help beneficiaries  develop skills and attitudes and gain underpinning knowledge which will give them confidence and help them achieve success
  • To assist beneficiaries  with their own personal action plans
  • To help beneficiaries  develop decision-making skills
  • To assist beneficiaries  develop transition skills


The job requirements for the Instructors are as follows:

  • Advanced Malawi Craft Certificate or Advanced Tevet Certificate (Level 3) or Diploma in a related field with some experience in the teaching area.
