The Malawi Institute of Management (MIM) is Malawi’s premier Institute in leadership and management training, research and consulting. The Institute would like to recruit for the following positions tenable at its main campus in Kanengo, Lilongwe.

Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Manager

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Administration, the ICT Manager will ensure the smooth operation of the entire ICT department in alignment with the business objectives of the Institute. S/he will be expected to lead on the design, development and implementation of the ICT operational strategy and manage the ICT Services function as well as infrastructure and technical operations in order to provide an outstanding service to staff, students and clients. The ICT manager will take authoritative, proactive approach in dealing with external vendors and keeping abreast of latest technologies that may be of benefit to the Institute.

The Candidate

The candidate should have proven experience in leadership to ICT operations and infrastructure ensuring that an appropriate technical support framework is in place. The candidate should also have an experience and understanding of the implementation of the Learning Management System (LMS) and Management Information Systems (MIS). The role focuses on both education support and business systems and services and will include hands-on duties such as hardware and software support, network management, project management, developing ICT strategy and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities:

The ICT Manager will be expected to:

• Provide leadership and technical direction for the department; technical support to the Institute’s Learning Management System; Student Information Management System; Accounting System; Payroll and HR systems;
• Plan and coordinate all ICT functions for the Institute and ensure that all campuses are provided with required facilities;
• Develop, document, design system procedures and test them; maintaining quality standards;
• Establish and implement effective ICT Risk management security and data recovery strategies; advising on corporate strategy from ICT perspective;
• Review, develop, implement and update existing policy and regulations on ICT management;
• Prepare and execute medium plan and annual budget for the department; prepare ICT status reports; and,
• Integrate ICT into MIM’s operations and promote awareness and impart knowledge on new ICT developments.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s Degree (Computer Science/Information and Communication Technology)
• BSc (Technology or Electronics Engineering or equivalent qualification)
• Experience in IT Security Certification, Database Certification
• At least five (5) years industry related experience, three of which should be at supervisory level).
• Those with experience in institutions of Higher Learning will have an added advantage
