Job Description

The National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) was established in Malawi through an Act of Parliament (Cap 53:05) of the Laws of Malawi to promote, regulate and develop the Construction Industry in Malawi.

The Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position in its establishment, to be based at the I-lead Office. The position is on permanent and pensionable terms.


Position: INDUSTRY LIAISON ASSISTANT (NORTH)  (GRADE NC 7)



based in Mzuzu

Reporting to the Senior Industry Liaison Officer the requirements for the positions are as stipulated below:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Be aged 25 years and above;
  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Engineering, Architecture, Building Economics, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or any equivalent relevant qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • Should have a minimum of three years’ work experience in a related field;
  • Should have self-drive, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and team working spirit;
  • Should have excellent planning and prioritization skills;
  • Should be able to work odd hours and during weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities

Working in the Regional offices the duties and responsibilities shall include but not limited to the following:
  • Update and maintain a register of persons engaged in the construction industry in the Region;
  • Conduct preliminary screening of applications for new registration/upgrading and recommending for verification and inspection visits;
  • Assist in sensitizing clients, contractors and consultants in the Region on the levy order in liaison with the Finance department and ensure compliance to construction levy remittance;
  • Receive and record complaints from players in the Construction Industry;
  • Assist in preparation and coordination of Training Programmes;
  • Assist in conducting Training Needs Assessment for players in the construction industry
  • Assist in promoting and documenting construction related research areas
  • Perform related duties as required by the Supervisor from time to time.
