Bollore Transport & Logistics Malawi Limited is a subsidiary of a multinational corporation Bollore Group from France and a leading Freight Forwarding and Logistics company in the country. The Group is one of the leading integrated logistics network operators in Africa with concessions in ports and railways. In Malawi we operate the entire logistics service range from international freight forwarding to warehousing and distribution management. The company intends to recruit suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above positions tenable at our Lilongwe and Blantyre offices.
Position: Imports/Exports Clerks (2 Positions)
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have an MSCE or its equivalent and a Diploma in Shipping & Customs Clearing or Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
They should also be computer proficient in Microsoft packages like Word, Excel, and Outlook.
They should also have at least three years’ experience in a busy freight forwarding organization with a proven track record in customs clearing.
• Framing/preparation of customs bills of entries (Form 12) and data capturing the bills of entries in the MRA Asycuda System (DTI) • Preparing duty requests to clients and following up on such requests with clients for timely payment of customs duties • Preparing MRA duty cheque requisitions and effecting duty payments to MRA • Managing the MRA Remote Direct Trader Input (RDTI) operations with MRA Declaration Processing
Centre (DPC) for the final clearance of goods • Following up of documents at MRA (facilitation of Customs Release Orders, Exchange Control
Stamped documents and Customs Physical Examinations of Goods) • Applying of imports permits of goods with the relevant authority where required • Checking and advising clients of any duty variances and advising clients on position of clearance of their goods
Good knowledge of exports, customs and exchange control procedures in Malawi and in-depth knowledge of tariffs and shipping operations are prerequisites for this position.
