Job Description

Peace Corps, a development agency of the U.S. Government, has an immediate opening for a Human Resources (HR) Assistant based in Lilongwe. Under the direction of the Director of Management and Operations, the HR Assistant is responsible for coordinating all aspects of human resources management for the Peace Corps in Malawi in accordance with United States Government policies and local labor law in Malawi. The HR Assistant is also provides administrative support and handles sensitive documents and communications, which require adherence to the strictest ethical standards of confidentiality and professional conduct.

 
 
Position: Human Resources (HR) Assistant 


This is a personal services contract position (PSC). Salary range is MWK 17,747,200 to MWK21,750,400.00


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Finance, or Human Resource Management
  •  Five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources/personnel management which includes position classification, financial accountability, wage administration, and other personnel operations. Familiarity with U.S. Government financial and contract management procedures is a plus.
  •  Experience working with a U.S. Government agency, an international organization, American business, NGO, or other relevant organization.
  •  Knowledge of structure, development plans, and operations of the Government of Malawi preferred.
  •  Demonstrable professional proficiency in spoken and written Chichewa and English.
  • Demonstrable professional proficiency in MS Word and Excel, with strong attention to detail.
  •  Ability to work independently with little supervision; good organization and time management skills; willingness to take initiative; flexible; excellent teamwork skills; strong service attitude; personal integrity; strong cross-cultural skills; strong interpersonal skills, strong interest in Malawi’s development.
  •  Ability to work on a regular Monday through Friday schedule with evening and weekend hours when necessary.
