Job Description

Holy Family Mission Hospital (HFMH) is under Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) under the Archdiocese of Blantyre of the Roman Catholic Church. It is situated in the south eastern part of Malawi, north of Mulanje Mountain in Phalombe district. It was founded in 1960 by the Medical Mission Sisters of Holland. Holy Family Hospital is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions.

Position: HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT OFFICER — (GRADE I)

Reporting to Principal Hospital Administrator

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities;

  •  Facilitating recruitment processes, termination of services and renewal of contracts for staff
  •  Coordinating orientation programs for new staff
  •  Processing staff clearance applications and employment permits for non-domiciled staff
  •  Facilitating staff performance appraisal processes
  •  Monitoring staff establishments and updating staff records
  •  Administering study leave bonds for staff proceeding on training and monitoring the progress of staff while on training
  •  Implementing staff development plans
  •  Processing applications staff loans emergency and education advances
  •  Facilitating labour relations by negotiating and administering bargaining agreements
  •  Ensuring consistent and accurate implementation of human resource procedures
  •  Handling staff office allocations and deployment of secretarial staff.
  •  Administering staff medical scheme and pension scheme
  •  Overseeing the delivery of support services; transport, security, cleaning, maintenance and grounds
  •  Administer/interpret the hospital’s terms and Archdiocese conditions of service
  •  Processing requests for appointments, confirmation and promotions.
  •  Initial processing/examination of disciplinary cases.
  •  Participate in the preparation of estimates on personal emoluments.
  •  Supervise and co-ordinate the work of subordinate staff.
  •  Servicing meetings of committees as assigned by the Principal Hospital Administrator
  •  Any other duties assigned by management
Qualifications

Applicants should have the following qualifications and attributes;

  •  Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or in Human Resource Management.
  •  Should have good interpersonal and communication skills
  •  Excellent organizational and coordination skills in working with different teams in a busy and complex environment
  •  Ability to pay attention to details
  •  Should have strong knowledge of labour Laws in Malawi and general understanding of the hospital Human Resource system and other standards.
  •  Minimum of four (4) experience at a busy institution.
