INTRODUCTION

Blantyre Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) invites application from suitable experienced candidates to fill the stated positions at Blantyre Synod Headquarters, Blantyre Synod Health & Development Commission (BSHDC) and Naming’azi Training Centre in Zomba.


Job title : Human Resources and Administration Manager


Reporting to: Deputy General Secretary

Location: Blantyre Synod Head Office- Blantyre.

Contract period : 3 years


Duties

  • Leading, directing and managing the day-to-day Human Resources and Administrative activities for Blantyre Synod Head quarter offices.
  • Providing guidance and advice to the Synod Management and its Departments in relation to labour legislation
  • Providing an oversight and guidance to the development and monitoring of recruitment process, reviewing job advertisements prior to posting, screen CVs, conduct telephone screenings, coordinate interview teams, participate in interviewing candidates and ensure that documentation is collected and recorded/filed.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining human resources policies across the entire Synod
  • Compliance and Record keeping; annually review the Personnel Handbook recommending amendments needed due to changes in local conditions or labour laws.
  • Compensation and Benefits; Monitor compensation – ensuring internal equity, compliance and benefits.
  • Training, Development and Performance Maintenance; Evaluate and identify the need for employee training, development and make recommendations to ensure that employees with right skills and competencies are placed in right positions.
  • Employee Relations; work with Synod management/Executive to resolve employee relations issues pragmatically. Demonstrate good public relations with Synod Ministers, Support staff and to ensure that they are served with human face.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Master’s Degree in Human resources, Business Administration or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience Business Administration or closely related discipline obtained from a recognized and reputable learning institution
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in the field of human resources
  • Must be familiar with country specific laws and regulations governing Human Resources.
  • Ability to work with managers to assess complex issues pragmatically.
  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, analyze situations and make decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal English and local language skills.
  • Ability to interact with and lead employees at various levels.
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality as it relates to Human Resources.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
