Job Description

Rays of Hope Ministries is a non-profit, Christian organization that collaborates with the Malawi government to produce morally responsible and youthful leaders through educational programs in Blantyre, Zomba, Ntchisi, and Mchinji. We focus on basic and secondary school students as a foundation for glooming these youthful leaders. There is a need to invest time and resources in the welfare of the children when they are in school, at home and afterschool. To that end, we intend to recruit qualified individuals to fill existing vacancies in the organization below.

Position: Human Resource Management Officer (1 post)

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the Human Resource Management Officer’s role is a critical piece in ensuring that the organization achieves its mission. The role, among others, is designed to get the best out of the team by creating a conducive environment for both the employer and employees. The incumbent will be the custodian of human resource management related policies that are in operation.


  • In collaboration with the Administration Manager, recruiting and interviewing potential applicants on experience, skills, and education.
  • Re-designing and improving existing plans/structures for future recruitment procedures and goals.
  • Creating a conducive environment for the teams’ health and safety.
  • Leading in new employee’s on-boarding, orientation, training and education programs.
  • Conversant with existing job description and updating them to reflect changes associated with the role(s).
  • Aggressive in the understanding and application of existing policies to ensure a cordial relationship between the employee and the top management.
  • Ensuring that the team is well conversant with their available benefits, programs, trainings, and education opportunities as part of their growth plans.
  • Provide an excellent backstopping support to the organization on all industrial and legal compliance with the Malawi legal framework.
  • Designing a systematic way of meeting team’s personal developmental goals.
  • Diligent in keeping employee’s records and paperwork such as contracts, leave details, etc.


  • Diploma in Human Resource Management from an accredited institution. Those with a degree will have an added advantage.


  • 3 years of experience at a busy institution.
  • Immaculate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent acumen in interpersonal skills.
  • Independent problem solver around team dynamics.
  • Admirable knowledge of employment laws and best practices generally acceptable in the Malawi labor market.
  • Evident constructive analytical skills in deciphering decisions on grey situations.
