Job Description

Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to supplement Government efforts in addressing HIV and AIDS and health burden in Malawi. Through its various programs, it is currently providing high quality HIV testing, prevention and treatment services to individuals, families and communities through static and outreach outlets in order to reduce HIV transmission and the impact of HIV and AIDS in Malawi.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of HIV Diagnostic Assistant Supervisor (4 positions) for Zomba, Ntcheu, Dedza and Mchinji

Position Overview

Reporting to the Project Officer/Manager, the HIV Diagnostic Assistant Supervisor supervises provision of HIV Testing Services; mentors HIV Testing Service Providers; and ensures the maintenance of quality assurance standards in the provision of HIV Testing Services

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the implementation of HIV Testing and Counselling services in sites under his/her supervision
  • Prepares periodical work reports
  • Provides IEC related to HIV/AIDS, STI,FP and PMTCT
  • Maintains quality assurance in HIV counselling and testing,
  • Plans and coordinates project activities
  • Ensures that effective communication channels are maintained among staff,
  • Collaborates with key HTS implementing stakeholders operating in his/her area in order to coordinate effort in the fight against HIV
  • Monitors, evaluates and controls the implementation of HTS activities and the other related services by HIV Diagnostics Assistants

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have a MSCE Certificate or its equivalent
  • Must have a Certificate in HIV Testing and Counselling from Ministry of Health or any other MoH credited institution
  • Must have a Certificate in HIV Testing Supervisors Training from Ministry of Health
  • Those with at least a Certificate in Nursing, Social Sciences (Psychology, or Sociology), Public Health/Environmental Health plus the above listed qualifications will have added advantage

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Highly motivated, with excellent planning, diplomatic, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Community mobilization skills
  • Hands-on experience in HIV Counselling and Testing
