Groundnuts Buying and Sales Controller

A career opportunity has arisen in our organisation for the position of Buying and Sales Controller.


Reporting to the Groundnuts Services Manager, the successful candidate will oversee, direct and co-ordinate the activities of the infield buying process and plan the selling of contracted and commercial groundnuts and handling of farmer complaints. He or she will act as the company’s representative in negotiations with growers and buyers.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversees contract marketing including liaising and negotiating with farmers and clubs to source desired contract volumes; negotiating on progress of deliveries based on memorandums of understanding;handling of complaints, grievances and queries related to registration,contracts, buying,marketing and sales;
  • Oversees sales and processing including sourcing and obtaining expression of interest from potential customers; managing stock in coordination with department heads; preparing sales contracts and/or quotations for potential customers; ensuring that terms of sales have been met and recorded appropriately; reconciling and circulating monthly sales reports; implementing company instructions, policies and procedures for purchasing and contract management
  • Supports agronomy employees including ensuring farmer contracts are completed and submitted on time and in full; handling complaints, grievances and/or queries related to registration and contract matters; overseeing the daily workflow and schedules of the operational areas
  • Information management including uploading all sales records and contracts to the company system; monitoring data flow on all company buying systems and reporting issues to relevant managers and recommending collective solutions and following up implementation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Business Administration
  • 4-6 years experience in logistics coordination or supply chain management
  • 2-4 years experience in contracting and sales
  • Experience in data capturing and management is essential
  • Experience in customer relations management
  • Experience in working with agricultural commodities (e.g groundnuts, soybeans, beans)

The Person

Should have wide knowledge in both formal and informal agriculture markets with excellent negotiation, communication,organizational and time management skills
