Job Description

The Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) is an ecumenical umbrella association co-owned by Episcopal Conference of Malawi and Malawi Council of Churches. CHAM is the second largest provider of health services in Malawi. It has 180 Health Facilities and Training Colleges which are located in all parts of the country. These are situated in remote and hard to reach areas. The objectives of CHAM are to facilitate, provide technical support, and develop health services among all its member facilities in order to achieve equity in access to health care, patient care and in all matters, to act for the benefit of the people of Malawi.

With funding from PEPFAR through CDC Country Office, CHAM wishes to recruit qualified and suitable persons for a project ‘Strengthening the Delivery, Coordination and Monitoring of HIV services in Malawi through Faith Based Institutions.’ All the positions are based at CHAM Secretariat, Area 14, Lilongwe. The positions are for 9 months.

Job Title: Grants Manager (CM3)

Department: Finance and Administration

Reporting Responsibility: Head of Finance and Administration

Purpose of Job

Responsible for project finance data management, proposal and budget development, external and internal audit, financial reporting and liquidity management.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide oversight on grants management activities including organising capacity building initiatives for sub-recipients.
  • Manage the overall sub granting efforts and grant reporting
  • Manage all contractual obligations and requirements with the project’s sub-recipients.
  • Ensure that proper grants management procedures are in place and consistently being followed including but not limited to due diligence, procedures, grants reporting, award letters, grants agreements and procedures to ensure availability of funds
  • Analysing financial data
  • Tracking grants applications
  • Identifying support agencies
  • Monitoring and controlling expenditure
  • Researching funding opportunities
  • Planning/designing and implementing grants programmes
  • Supervising grant staff

Qualifications and Experience

  • ACCA qualified combined with a Degree in Accountancy/Commerce.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in grants management; two of which must be with US government Funded Projects.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Attention to details and problem solving skills
  • Self-starter and able to deliver results on time.
