Job Description

Kumbali Lodges & Conference Centre is looking for a Front Office Manager. You will act as the ‘face’ of our company and ensure visitors receive a heartwarming welcome. You will also coordinate all front desk activities, including calls, reservations and guest services. This position requires assisting the Lodge Manager during weekends off and leave periods.


As a Front Office Manager, you should combine a pleasant personality with a dynamic professional attitude to work with our team. Our ideal candidate can deal efficiently with complaints and has a solid customer service approach.

Ultimately, you should be able to ensure our front desk provides professional and friendly service to our customers.


  • Ensure all emails answered on a regular basis and in a polite and professional way.
  • Ensure timely and accurate customer service.
  • Answer telephone in a polite and professional manner.
  • Handle complaints and specific customer requests.
  • Train, supervise and support staff involved with front line activities.
  • Manage Staff Schedules
  • Troubleshoot emergencies
  • Ensure company’s policies and security requirements are met.
  • Follow up on debtors
  • Handle social media queries
  • Inform restaurant , housekeeping and conference centre of any bookings or changes
  • Manage booking sheets, invoices and cash from bar and restaurant.


  • Proven work experience as a Front Office Desk Manager with other Hospitality experience on CV with contacts.
  • Hands on experience with office machines (e.g. MRA machine, printers, POS)
  • Thorough knowledge of customer service, office management and QuickBooks
  • Be able to understand and work with Channel Management
  • Knowledge of OTA’s and their procedures (i.e. Expedia, etc)
  • Proficiency in English (oral and written)
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Good organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Problem solving skills
  • High School Diploma, additional certification is a plus. Experience is key.   
  • At least 5 years hotel experience preferably with international experience
  • Understand the hotel industry and be able to work longer hours when required
  • Knowledge of the FNB department and other general operations
  • Must be passionate about the hospitality industry  
  • Be prepared to live on site and preferably single.
