Job Description

A. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Reporting to Senior Finance Officer, the Finance Officer shall be handling the day to day activities of the accounting and finance section for its smooth operation.

B. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process of the financial transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other financial records.
  • Provide support in preparing the financial reports in the accounting and finance system as per instructions.
  • Maintaining, updating and retrieving the financial information from the financial system.
  • Accurately input and reconcile data in the computerized accounting package
  • Assist in the preparation of financial records for external audit.
  • Handling cash advances and process imprest liquidation.
  • Check documents submitted for payment as to their validity, accuracy and completeness and detect and correct errors and irregularities.
  • Orderly filing of all financial records
  • Ensuring proper cash flow cut off points are adhered to on monthly basis.
  • Providing timely response to audit queries to facilitate the production of audited final accounts each year.
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliation statements as well as reconciliation of direct deposits
  • Participating in the preparations of annual budgets in conjunction with other department heads for approval by the relevant authority.
  • Keeping and issuing accountable document
  • Responsible for bank deposits to ensure that they are deposited according to the established procedures.
  • Carrying out any other duties relevant to the job assigned from time to time.

C. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
  • Ability to prioritize work efficiently;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Strong planning and organizational skills;
  • Excellent in communication
  • Self-motivated, assertive and action oriented;
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of computerized accounting system.

D. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • At least Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Four years’ experience at Assistant Accountant Level
  • Membership with professional Bodies.
