Job Description

Objective of the Role:

Wala Limited is looking for a Finance manager to lead its Finance Department. You are – ideally – highly-analytical and professionally qualified because we require someone who will be responsible for the everyday tracking and leadership of the financial health of Wala Limited by contributing to the development of and abidance to financial procedures. Your duties will include real-time monitoring of the project budget, participating in audits, monitoring transactions, and preparing invoices. You will also be leading the finance department. To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of financial policies, procedures, and systems. In addition to being an excellent communicator, our ideal candidate will also have outstanding analytical and time management abilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial planning and strategy.
  • Analyse and report on financial performance.
  • Oversee audit and tax functions.
  • Stay updated with and ensure that all of the company’s financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies.
  • Prepare forecasts and comprehensive budgets.
  • Monitor and maintain the project budgets in line with donor requirements and guidelines.
  • Maintain records and receipts for all daily transactions.
  • Ensure financial records are kept up-to-date with the latest transactions and changes.
  • Lead financial audits and tax functions.
  • Monitor all bank deposits and payments.
  • Perform periodic financial analysis to detect, pre-empt, minimise and resolve problems.
  • Prepare balance sheets and invoices.
  • Lead the development of periodic internal and external financial reports.
  • Training finance, project and operations staff.
  • Review departmental budgets.
  • Assess, manage, and minimize risk.
  • Analyse complex financial data.
  • Manage internal financial controls.
  • Work with human resources employees to secure candidates who will be an asset to the finance department are on-boarded.
  • Any other duties as stipulated from time to time.

Professional and Academic Background/Expertise:
  • A bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field. Those with professional qualification will have an added advantage.
  • A minimum of Four (4) years’ experience in a similar role.
  • A member of a recognized Accounting Regulating Body.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and accounting processes.
  • Outstanding financial analytical skills.
  • Outstanding time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead a team.

  • High levels of professionalism.
  • Self-starter who is able to work well with minimal supervision.
  • Continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Ability to produce deliverables in due time and with quality standards.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in a simple manner.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Chichewa.
  • Ability to organize and interpret data and present findings in both oral and written form.
