Job Description

The Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) is an ecumenical umbrella association co-owned by Episcopal Conference of Malawi and Malawi Council of Churches. CHAM is the second largest provider of health services in Malawi. It has 180 Health Facilities and Training Colleges which are located in all parts of the country. These are situated in remote and hard to reach areas. The objectives of CHAM are to facilitate, provide technical support, and develop health services among all its member facilities in order to achieve equity in access to health care, patient care and in all matters, to act for the benefit of the people of Malawi.

With funding from PEPFAR through CDC Country Office, CHAM wishes to recruit qualified and suitable persons for a project ‘Strengthening the Delivery, Coordination and Monitoring of HIV services in Malawi through Faith Based Institutions.’ All the positions are based at CHAM Secretariat, Area 14, Lilongwe. The positions are for 9 months.


Job Title: Finance Assistant (CS1)


Department: Finance and Administration

Reporting Responsibility: Grants Manager


Purpose of Job


To support the finance department and management in Finance Management services at CHAM.


Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Preparing payments
  • Filing of payment vouchers and other finance documents
  • Issuing of cheques
  • Payment of salaries and accounting for salary related remittances
  • Preparation and submission of periodic accounting returns by prescribed dates
  • Liquidation of payments
  • Cash receipting and banking of cash deposits
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Accounting with at least two years’ work experience in a donor funded project.
