Job Description

White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) Malawi was established in 2002 with a vision to see all girls and women realize their right to quality health and wellbeing, and its mission is to activate a people led movement for reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and rights. WRA Malawi is driven by a deep passion to reducing maternal and newborn deaths, protecting girls and women’s reproductive rights, amplifying citizen voices, and creating demand for quality, safe and accessible healthcare for all.

WRA Malawi has existing position that need to be filled as follows:

Position: Finance and Administration Officer

Reporting to: Executive Director

Responsibilities

  •  Prepare annual and project specific budgets
  •  Develop and refine management accounting and reporting systems
  •  Review financial data and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  •  Maintain monthly detailed audit schedules that reconciles fully to the general ledger including bank payables and receivable reconciliations.
  •  Oversee internal and external audit processes.
  •  Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the organization
  •  Identify methods for minimizing financial risk to the organization
  •  Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation including taxation, insurance and pension issues
  •  Manage the organization’s administrative functions including contractual commitments, legal requirements, procurement, and logistical activities
  •  Maintain proper HR procedures in relation to recruitment, orientation, training, appraisals. and employee benefits; and
  •  In liaison with the Executive Director manage all the risks of the organization.
Qualifications
  •  Must be a holder of a Degree in Accountancy or related field.
  •  A minimum of 5 years’ experience in finance management and administration
  •  Knowledge of sage revolution accounting package and Quickbooks is desirable
  •  Experience working in an NGO will be an added advantage
  •  Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  •  Expert computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
