Job Description

The Agriculture Enterprise (AE) is a social enterprise organization whose main mandate Is to promote the role of farming businesses in building resilient communities and sustainable farming businesses through INPUT supplies to the last mile. We believe that a lot of innovations are not widely distributed to the stakeholders.

AE is specializing in acting as a catalyst and facilitator of change; as a broker and initiator of multi-sector partnerships and platforms; and as a knowledge management hub for Issues relating to the role of responsible farming businesses in Malawi.

Agriculture Enterprise is a new organization which is in piloting stages to implement a Sustainable mechanized farming for smallholder farmers with the aim of reducing poverty and hunger in Malawi. The piloting project is expected to be implemented in three districts of Dedza, Lilongwe, and Dowa. It is in this regard that AE wishes to engage the services of qualified, experienced and dynamic young people aged 27 below to fill the position of Field Officers (6 Posts)


The Field Officer will provide support and create a balance in the time and scope of implementing the INPUT Supply project at community level under the direct supervision of the Director.

S/he will report directly to the Director for the INPUT Supply project.


The following will be tasks to be performed by Field Officer:

  • Prepare work plans/work schedules for all planned activities and ensure these are submitted to the director for approval as per agreed overall work plan.
  • Keep updated attendance registers of training session, smallholder farmers attending activities, and all outreach campaigns
  • Conduct community mobilization and sensitization programmes, to ensure maximum participation of smallholder farmers in the last mile
  • Work with Platform project director to sensitize the stakeholders and the target communities about the Agriculture Enterprise INPUT Supply Project objectives.
  • Work with platform project director to plan and organise events, activities and sessions relating to smallholder farmers Livelihoods, employment creation, entrepreneurship and skills training.
  • Work with other stakeholders, local community leaders and other community stakeholders to identify and address issues affecting project delivery
  • Collect and collate/compile monthly. quarterly or any reports and data required information relating to the programme and submit this to the director in time
  • Build and maintain positive working relations with local smallholder farmers in the assigned project area
  • Network with other key partners – NGOs, CBOs, Government departments and key community members at district levels to ensure that the programme is fully supported at community level.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness Social Sciences, Enterprise Development or any Development Related field
  • Experience in mobilizing communities, community leaders and young people to participate in programmes
  • Strong facilitation skills, good report writing skills
  • Knowledge and familiarity with data collection tools and techniques
  • Experience of budgeting and handling finances to deliver project activities
  • Strong problem solving skills appropriate for community partners
  • Computer literacy (word, excel, power point, web and outlook)
  • Ability to motivate and support smallholder farmers
  • An ability to plan/schedule work activities independently with minimum supervision, at least one year experience.
