Job Description

MACOHA is a Statutory Corporation established by an Act of Parliament, the Handicapped Persons Act, Cap 33:02 of 1971. Its mission is to implement Government policies by providing rehabilitation programs and services and promoting public interest for the empowerment of persons with disabilities in order to achieve an inclusive society. Council’s programs and services are aimed at mainstreaming disability in all areas of the country’s development agenda.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions tenable at MACOHA Head Office on Kittermaster Avenue, BCA Hills, Limbe.


Position: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 



THE JOB


The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of the Organization. He/she is responsible to the Board of Directors for the efficient and effective operation of the organization. The Executive Director is expected to provide leadership and advice on technical, policy and administrative issues and general management of the organization.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES



The successful candidate shall be expected to:
  • Serve as the Chief Executive Officer of MACOHA
  • Oversee planning and implementation of rehabilitation programs and services of MACOHA
  • Monitor rehabilitation programs and services of MACOHA
  • Initiate fund raising activities for implementation of programs and services for persons with disabilities
  • Control the finances of the organization.
  • Coordinate with relevant governmental and non-governmental organisations, development partners, communities and other agencies on the matter related to disability mainstreaming.
  • Facilitate provision of interventions to persons with disabilities. Promote, develop and extend the interests of the Council and its Units.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of United Nations Convention of the Rights of people with disabilities (UNCRPD) and other disability policies and implementation mechanisms.


QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • A minimum of Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines:- Social Work, Development Studies, Disability Rights Law, Special Needs Education, Rural and Community Development and any Master’s Degree in disability- related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of work experience at senior management level preferably in a reputable organization.
  • Knowledge and application of emerging cross cutting disability issues at national and international level.
  • Ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels and to influence and facilitate disability mainstreaming.



REMUNERATION-PACKAGE


The successful candidates shall be offered a negotiated performance related contract for a period of three years with an attractive salary, benefits and gratuity package commensurate with the seniority of the position.
