Job Description

Position Title: Enumerators — Short Term

Organization: Self Help Africa

Department: Programmes

Location: All districts in Malawi where projects are being implemented

Reports to: M&E Manager

Length of Contract: To be communicated based on Assignment

Job Purpose

Self Help Africa Malawi Country Office seeks to hire short term enumerators (30) for its quarterly Indicator Based Assessment. These assessments are planned for the organizations major projects. Self Help Africa wishes to recruit well qualified and experienced persons to take up the role of data collection as short-term enumerators for the immediate assessment scheduled for the month of November 2020 and future projects. Ensuring system compliance and quality control is central to the function. Self Help Africa strives to be an Equal Opportunities Employer


Those applying should possess the following prerequisites:

  • A University Degree in Agriculture Economics, Development Studies, Agriculture Extension, Agri Business, Nutrition, Natural Resources, Education Science, Demography, Statistics, Information Technology only 2014 to 2020 graduates.
  • Proven experience in data collection and data entry (minimum one year).
  • Demonstrate experience in using mobile devices (smart phones and tablets) for data collection exercises.
  • Willing to work with a diverse range of individuals/ professionals and rural communities/households.
  • Willing to work odd hours to meet daily data collection needs.
  • Those with experiences in managing survey teams will be considered for the position of Supervisor.
  • Willing to undergo a two-day orientation workshop on the data collection tools.
  • Protect the materials and equipment received for the exercise.

The successful candidates will have the following attributes:

  • High level of organization.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent spoken Chichewa and Chitumbuka.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
  • Confidence, strong work ethics and a positive attitude.
