Job Description

The National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) whose main objective to ensure security of fuel supply in Malawi is a wholly owned Malawi Government Company established under the Company’s Act of 1984 on the 10th December 2010 and commenced its operation in 2012. NOCMA is responsible for managing the Country’s 60 million litres Strategic Fuel Reserves situated in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu; and smaller depots in Chilumba, Chipoka and Mchinji.

Over the past eight (8) years, the Company has grown tremendously in its national strategic importance with its fuel importation market share growing from ten percent (10%) in 2015 to an average of sixty-Five percent (65%) in 2019/20 and this has been matched with growth in Institutional capacity and investments to enable efficiency and effectiveness in executing its mandate.

In its drive to ensure improved and sustained efficiency and effectiveness in delivery of its mandate, NOCMA is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced candidates to fill various highly rewarding positions that have arisen within the Company.

Position: Electrical Technician      



Tenable at Lilongwe Depot


Key Roles and Responsibilities



• Installing electrical parts/components, new machines and equipment including motors, switch gears etc;
• Diagnosing electrical faults on electrical systems, equipment, buildings and instrumentation; Interpreting electrical circuit diagrams and making necessary repairs;
• Operating electrical plant and equipment e.g. switch gears;
• Carrying out inspections, electrical tests and preventive electrical maintenance of all machines and associated equipment
• Testing protection relays in conjunction with Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM);
• Participating in major breakdown maintenance in NOCMA as a whole;
• Ensuring that all electrical works or systems are in compliance with NOCMA Safety Management Systems (NOSAMS); and
• Performing other relevant duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.


Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience

  • City and Guilds Part II or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • At least three (3) years proven work experience in electrical engineering field.


Additional Skills and Abilities


• Should be organized, team player and hardworking
• Ability to exercise own initiative and judgment.
• Should be able to work any time
