World Vision International in Malawi is currently looking for dedicated professional Christians to fill the vacant positions below for the anticipated Global Fund HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria program to be implemented during 2021 — 2023 implementation period in Malawi. Drivers (Grade 9) — 4 Positions– Based at the National Office in Lilongwe, Mangochi, Balaka and Nkhatabay

Purpose of the position:
To provide driving services to World Vision Staff in order to enhance the organization’s in transport services.

Major Responsibilities

  • Utilize vehicles for World Vision projects or general office related matters as assigned
  • Drive responsibly, following traffic directions and respecting established speed limits and any other internal regulations for the use of vehicles
  • Maintain daily logbooks which include: kilometers driven each day, party driven or task assignment, any irregularities or damage to vehicle, any maintenance carried out on the vehicle
  • Report any accident or incident within 24 hours to the immediate supervisor and the Fleet and Security Coordinator
  • Provide the log books on daily basis to the Administration Officer and the Senior Driver so a database is kept for the vehicle/fuel usage charges
  • Driving project staff including visitors
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance of vehicles by carrying out general maintenance including cleaning, tyre pressure, brake fluid, radiator. oil check , fuel supply, and spare tyre
  • Provide vehicle performance report for each service and highlight any potential problem that has not been dealt with in the current service
  • Perform any other work that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor including participating in project works.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

Applicants should have the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with not less than five years’ experience on the same position.

  • A relevant clean Driving License
  • Professional Driving Permit
  • Valid Defensive Driving Certificate
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Chichewa (oral and written)
  • Experience in driving high profile delegates
  • Have a good working relationship with the team.
  • Eager to learn and work without supervision in harsh environments
  • Exposure in community development work.
