Job Description

World Relief is an international Christian NGO working in health, economic development, disaster response, and refugee resettlement. World Relief’s mission is empowering local churches to serve the most vulnerable.

USAID awarded World Relief Malawi the Strengthening Community Health Outcomes through Positive Engagement (SCOPE) HIV project which seeks to address gaps in HIV care and treatment in order to achieve 95-95-95 goals by increasing HIV education, case finding, referral, and the return to care, and by raising awareness and justice for children by engaging faith communities, men and youth, and girls and young women at the grassroots level. The agreement period for award is March 1, 2020 to September 30, 2022.

World Relief Malawi, through the SCOPE HIV project, collaborates with key stakeholders to increase access to and utilisation of HIV care and treatment services, increase faith and community-based capacity and engagement in HIV prevention, care and treatment, influence behavior change towards seeking HIV care and treatment and SGBV services and strengthened linkages and retention for HIV care and treatment of the target population in Machinga, Mangochi, and Lilongwe Districts.

World Relief Malawi therefore invites applications from interested and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position:

Job Title: Drivers (3 x Positions)
Reports to: Administrator
Location: Lilongwe/Machinga/Mangochi

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for meeting all the transportation needs of staff at World Relief Malawi, SCOPE Project Offices and Field Offices and travel to where World Relief Malawi will have to work. This includes driving staff to places they are supposed to attend meetings, workshops, seminars or any other official functions.

Specific Functions

  •  Facilitation of transport needs to all staff
  • Arrangement for insurance and certificate of Fitness (COF) in coordination with Head Driver
  • Coordinate service for all office vehicles
  • Processing of registration for new vehicles and motorcycles
  • Fueling office vehicles
  •  Cleaning of office vehicles
  •  Ensuring that vehicle handovers are done properly after every field trip.
  •  Recommendation of vehicle service schedules.
  • Acting as a contact person when field trips are prolonged and in case of emergencies.
  • Rectifying minor vehicle faults/damages.
  • Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of MSCE
  • At least 3 years of driving organization vehicles.
  • A mature individual, not less than 35 years old
  •  A clean class C driving license and PG is an added advantage
  •  Good command of both English and local languages
  • Ability to do minor vehicle maintenance
  • Ability to work at odd hours
  • Sober Habits
