Job Description

Blantyre Synod Health & Development Commission (BSHDC) is looking for the services of a well experienced Driver as soon as possible.


Job Title: Driver


Reporting to: Human Resources Officer

Location: BSHDC Head Office- Blantyre.

Contract period: 1 year


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Responsible for the safe use of the vehicle assigned to him or her.
  • Only undertake journeys that are authorized by the appropriate supervisor.
  • Abide by all BSHDC driving rules and transport policies.
  • Carrying out daily and weekly checks on the vehicle as set out in the log book.
  • Report all faults, maintenance needs and incidents/ accidents to the supervisor.
  • Complete the vehicle log books and sheet on a daily basis.
  • Ensuring that all equipment allocated to the vehicle are complete and in good working condition, including spare tyres and other equipment before undertaking any trip.
  • Ensuring that before taking a trip, the vehicle is in good working condition, clean and appropriately equipped and has adequate fuel for the intended trip.
  • Ensuring that all supplies and equipment to be carried are accompanied by appropriate paper work, packed and safe.


QUALIFICATION

  • Malawi School Certificate of Education
  • Holder of authorized passage driving License with 5 years relevant experience in driving organization vehicles and reaching out in hard to reach areas.
  • Holder of current defensive driving certificates
  • Those with mechanical experience of motor vehicles will have an added advantage.
  • Good Knowledge and skills of computers will be an added advantage
  • Good Communications skills both written and oral in English and major Local Languages in Malawi will be a plus.
