Job Description

MACOHA is a Statutory Corporation established by an Act of Parliament, the Handicapped Persons Act, Cap 33:02 of 1971. Its mission is to implement Government policies by providing rehabilitation programs and services and promoting public interest for the empowerment of persons with disabilities in order to achieve an inclusive society. Council’s programs and services are aimed at mainstreaming disability in all areas of the country’s development agenda.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions tenable at MACOHA Head Office on Kittermaster Avenue, BCA Hills, Limbe.



The Director of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is the Head of the Rehabilitation Department that is core to the provision of programs and services to persons with disabilities. The DRS shall form part of Council’s Senior Management Team and as such shall be expected to participate in the development of appropriate policies and procedures to enhance Council’s operational efficiency. The incumbent reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and evaluation of rehabilitation programs and services.


The successful candidate shall be responsible for:
  • Developing rehabilitation programs and services
  • Ensuring overall implementation and coordination of rehabilitation programs and services
  • Developing extension services, follow up and post training rehabilitation programs for persons with disabilities.
  • Maintaining contact with various relevant public and private organizations concerned with the care and welfare of persons with disabilities for effective networking and implementation of rehabilitation programs and services.
  • Conducting day to day management and supervision of rehabilitation staff.
  • Creating conducive environment for optimum (rehabilitation) staff development and output.
  • Preparing of rehabilitation department’s annual estimates and control the budget.
  • Collating of departmental reports for the consumption of the Board and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Performing such other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director.


  • The job requires Master’s Degree in any Disability related field, Social Science, Development Studies, Rural and Community Development, Social Work and its equivalent plus first degree in any related field from a recognized institution.
  • Four (4) years working experience in the disability related field.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Sound management and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy and team spirit
  • Team builder and ability to work with minimum supervision and
  • Knowledge of local and international disability legal instruments


The successful candidates shall be offered a negotiated performance related contract for a period of three years with an attractive salary, benefits and gratuity package commensurate with the seniority of the position.
