Job Description


Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Operations provides strategic direction and management of the Malawi Gaming Board(MGB)/ National Lotteries Board (NLB) operationalactivities consistent with the statutory mandate of the MGB/NLB. The Director of Operations shall be part of the Executive Management team of the MGB/NLB. The position is tenable in Blantyre.

Position: Director of Operations (Re-Advertisement)


The key duties and responsibilities for the Director of Operations are varied and shall include the following:

  •  Direct oversight of the MGB/ NLB’s compliance function; 
  •  Attending meetings and representing the MGB/NLB’s interests on operational issues;
  • Producing monthly, quarterly and annual reports on the performance of the MGB/NLB’s licensed operators;
  •  Monitoring and enforcing license obligations for all licensed operators;
  •  Supervising staff under charge to ensure that the MGB/NLB’s monitoring policy is adhered to; 
  •  Identifying capacity development needs for the Operations department and facilitating access to relevant developmental programs to enhance the MGB/NLB’s monitoring function;
  •  Advising the MGB/NLB on all operational and relevant technical matters;
  • Assisting, participating and making recommendations in the review and formulation of operational policies;
  •  Ensuring integrity in all operations and gaming systems;
  •  Participating in the preparation and evaluation of Requests for proposal and invitation for bids for Gaming Licences;
  •  Leading and overseeing Operators compliance and Anti-money laundering (AML) programs to ensure adherence to all applicable legislation.
Qualified Candidates must possess a Master’s and a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems or related fields plus at least ten (10) years post-graduate experience at a senior management position level. Candidates should be goal driven, action oriented, innovative, a self-starter and team player.


The successful candidate shall be offered a performance related contract for a period of three (3) years with an attractive salary and benefits commensurate with the seniority of the position and qualifications
of the candidate.
