Reporting to the Director of Department of Education Materials Development and Resource Centre (EMDRC), the Digital Librarian will be responsible for assisting in the coordination and provision of digital library resources including digital content such as ebooks, e-audiobooks, e-magazines, e-music and information databases.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree of Library and Information Science from a recognized institution.
Must have at least 3 years’ experience in an academic environment that is already practicing ICT in their work.
Duties
Coordinate access and maintenance of the Library’s licensed digital resources, including tasks related to contracts, implementation, staff support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of resources.
Collaborate with the MIE Digitization team to digitize learning materials and syllabuses
Works cooperatively with librarians, teachers and students to promote the use of digital tools and resources.
Set up or work with databases and information systems to catalogue and access information.
Maintain relationships with all vendors associated with the digital library
Collect, maintain and report digital resources and services statistical data to EMDRC Director.
Collaborate with the ICT staff to develop and support the digital resources

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Desire to meet and serve the library’s user community.
Ability to think analytically and to develop new or revised systems, procedures, and work flow.
Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgement.
Knowledge of computers, the internet and commercially available library software.
Possess good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain and foster cooperative and courteous working relationships with other Librarians and internationally, the public, peers and supervisors.
