Job Description

The National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) whose main objective to ensure security of fuel supply in Malawi is a wholly owned Malawi Government Company established under the Company’s Act of 1984 on the 10th December 2010 and commenced its operation in 2012. NOCMA is responsible for managing the Country’s 60 million litres Strategic Fuel Reserves situated in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu; and smaller depots in Chilumba, Chipoka and Mchinji.

Over the past eight (8) years, the Company has grown tremendously in its national strategic importance with its fuel importation market share growing from ten percent (10%) in 2015 to an average of sixty-Five percent (65%) in 2019/20 and this has been matched with growth in Institutional capacity and investments to enable efficiency and effectiveness in executing its mandate.

In its drive to ensure improved and sustained efficiency and effectiveness in delivery of its mandate, NOCMA is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced candidates to fill various highly rewarding positions that have arisen within the Company.

Position: Depot Manager

Depot Manager – Mzuzu Depot

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Managing and coordination of all Depot Operations:
  • Managing fuel stocks at Depot in relation to receipting, storage and issuing.
  • Ensuring that all depot health, safety, security, environmental and quality assurance at depotlevel are adhered to;
  • Managing Depot staff and coordinating fuel transporters arrivals and fuel supply delivery.
  • Management of depot Infrastructure in close liaison with the Infrastructure Development Manager;
  • Planning, budgeting and managing and accounting for Depot expenses.
  • Ensuring compliance of Depot staff and Depot operations are per the MERA, MRA and MBS regulations and requirements.
  • Writing and submitting regular reports on stock levels and general performance and operations of Depot to Executive Management team;
  • Coordinating and liaising with stakeholders and representing Executive Management on fuel supply matters where necessary;
  • Managing transport and other depot logistics.
  • Ensuring prudent utilization of Depot human and material resources
  • Managing Depot assets;
  • Performing other relevant duties relevant to the post as delegated by Executive Management;
  • And any other appropriate duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Minimum of Degree in Business Administration, Management or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least five (5) years’ work experience in managing a fuel Depot
