Location : The position is located in Lilongwe, Malawi. The Country Director is expected to travel to Mozambique on a regular basis. Periodic travels and stay in Oslo and regular travel to the project sites and Mozambique will also be required.

General purpose of the job
This is a challenging but rewarding function to ensure that DF Malawi Programme achieves a sustainable impact on sustainable agriculture, rural livelihoods and climate change adaptation and mitigation.
1. Main purpose of the position
The Country Director will ensure the sound management of the Development Fund’s programmes in Malawi and Mozambique in line with the organisation’s strategy and policies. The Country Director will lead the Development Fund’s country office in Lilongwe and will represent the organisation in relevant fora and towards donors.
The Country Director will have the responsibility for the management of the Development Fund’s programme in Malawi and Mozambique, including consolidation of the existing efforts/activities and the development and strengthening of the programme in line with the organisation’s strategy and policies. The Country Director will lead the country office in Lilongwe, with a special focus on strengthening the capacity of the country offices and ensuring alignment with the organisation’s policies and procedures. The Country Director will act as the Development Fund’s local representative towards relevant donors and other stakeholders, including local partners and government officials.
4. Capacity building
The Development Fund will facilitate capacity building of the employee through internal and external capacity building activities, in line with the organisation’s resources.
5. Revision and approval
The position can be changed if decisions by the board or changes within the organisation so require. All changes shall be discussed with the employee. This will also apply in the case of absence caused by health-related issues, and the management shall delegate tasks in dialogue with the employee. Flexibility in terms of travels and prioritisation of tasks will be required.
