Job Description

The National Aids Commission (NAC) is a body corporate established in 2001 and reconstituted through the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Management) Act No. 9 of 2018. The Act mandates NAC to coordinate and provide leadership for the implementation of the National response to HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Management) by other key stakeholders. The enactment of the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Management) Act No. 9 of 2018, reconstituted NAC with new functional roles.

In order to meet the new requirements and its mandate effectively and efficiently. excellent and rare opportunities have arisen to engage qualified persons of Malawian origin to fill various positions of National AIDS Commission tenable at Its Head Office in Lilongwe

NAC therefore invites applications from suitable candidates to fill these positions on permanent terms of employment.

Position: Coordination & Capacity Building Officer – District [1 post] (Re – advertised)

Among others Coordination and Capacity Building Officer shall perform and be responsible for the following functions:

  • Coordinating support to Local Councils and other Implementing Agencies in the development, implementation and monitoring of HIV and AIDS activities through the District Implementation Plans.
  • Facilitating and conducting gender, HIV and AIDS mainstreaming in all assembles.
  • Facilitating and coordinating capacity development initiatives for district HIV and AIDS activities through technical backstopping of the District Training Teams.
  • Facilitating monitoring, evaluation and reporting of HIV and AIDS interventions for both Local Councils.
  • Coordinating regional and district review meetings for HIV and AIDS.
  • Supervising and providing technical support to technical subordinates and ensure that all assets are used effectively and efficiently.
  • Compiling consolidated monthly and quarterly progress reports


The desired candidate must possess
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social sciences. Business Administration. Public Administration, or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • At least 5 years post qualification experience in HIV/and AIDS

Person Specification

  • Be a self-starter and requiring minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills including facilitation skills.
  • Experience in working with rural communities in designing, implementation and monitoring HIV and AIDS interventions.
  • Experience in computer packages such us word, Excel and power point.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to manage a team of professionals from different backgrounds.
