Job Description

Position: Community Based Facilitator CBF (2)

Reports to: Project Officer

Commitment: Full Time (Monday-Friday)

Working Hours: Regular Office Hours (40Hrs/Week)

Location: Mzimba district and Euthini (Mzimba north)

Organizational Profile

The CCAP Synod of Livingstonia Health Department was established in the year 1990 with a purpose of coordinating the Synod health care work in its catchment area. The Synod of Livingstonia operates its health services in the Northern Region of Malawi in 4 of the 6 Northern Districts. The health facilities are in Mzimba District at Embangweni with all its health centres, Ekwendeni and all its health centers, in Rumphi District at Livingstonia and all its health centres, Chitipa District at Msumbe and Nkhata Bay District at Kavuzi and Bandawe. Through service delivery and advocacy, SoLHD works bring access to and use of high-quality EHP services to those most in need, and to serve as an antidote to despair. SoLHD is a member of Actalliance and N’zatonse Consortium, a grouping of development partners that are implementing a project entitled: Strengthening Public- Private Partnership in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Project with funding from the Joint Country Program (NCA-DCA). SoLHD is therefore seeking the services of qualified personnel for N’zatonse SRHR project which will be implemented in Mzimba south and Mzimba north.

Position Description Overview:

CBF will have a leading role in training community members/volunteers in preparation for activity implementation, collaborating with community members, community committees and volunteers to identify programme clients and complete family profiles. Implementing Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Programme strategies and activities for the promotion of health issues. Collecting data related work plans and submitting reports to Project Officers. Assisting Project Officers in the preparation of proposals and budgets and conduct budget reviews when need arises. He/She will ensure that project records are kept up to date and accessible. Collaborating with the Community members to promote Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights issues. Collaborating with supervisors in preparing budget for training community members.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  •  Support development, maintenance, and improved usability and integration of all Informatics platforms i.e. KOBO and SoLHD Central Database.
  •  Supervising and encouraging community volunteers in doing their work.

Responsibilities shall include:
  •  Data collection and reporting.
  •  Supervising and monitoring established cadres with different volunteers
  •  Working hand in hand with church leaders as well as community leaders and law enforcers in SGBV/SRHR
  •  Collaborating with stakeholders in identifying volunteers to undergo trainings.
  •  Other duties as assigned by Project Officers
Required Qualifications; Experience and Expertise:
  •  Must have a minimum of Diploma in Health related field or in Community Development
  •  Must have at least three years’ hands on community development facilitation.
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to advocate, negotiate, listen and collaborate with a variety of individuals and groups.
  •  Skills in prioritization, problem solving, organization, decision-making, time management and planning.
  •  Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
  •  Ability to work both independently and in a complex team environment.
  •  Fluency in Chichewa.
  •  Excellent command of written and spoken English and the ability to interact with people of all technical levels.
  •  Willingness to live in a remote area and travel to field regularly for data collection using mobile device.
  •  Must be a committed and practicing Christian
  •  Ability to ride a motor cycle is a MUST and should have a clean driving license
Preference will be given to those residing within Mzimba district and Euthini.
