source: From rapid disaster relief to reconstruction and long-term development cooperation projects with local partner organizations, based on the principle of help for self-help.

Since its establishment in 1962, more than 8,120 overseas projects in 70 countries have been supported – for a world without hunger and poverty.

Malawi Project Office in Dedza is looking for dynamic and honest candidate to fill the vacant position of Communications Officer.

Overall Role of the position

The Communication Officer supports WHH Malawi projects in Dedza with communication and visibility support of all kinds.

The position reports to Project Coordinator and works closely with Head of Projects and Project Specialist

Duties end Responsibilities

  •  Developing and implementing communication strategies and work plans, campaigns, events and other initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Global communication priorities of Welthungerhilfe.
  •  Social Media management incl preparing posts, pictures, short videos and stories
  •  Support writing of success stories, newsletters, press releases and any other external communication
  •  Support taking of pictures for projects and programs.
  • Support visibility and marketing events in the project area.
  •  Researching, producing, preparing, fact-checking and editing professional media and communication materials for various audiences and ensuing their timely dissemination via WHH and non-WHH communication channels
  •  Capacity support to project teams as well as communication assistant

Requirements

  •  Degree in Communication, Political Sciences, Public Information, international Relations or related fields
  •  Minimum of 3-6 years of relevant experience, including working in media, journalism, advocacy, or communications and marketing or in closely related external relations contexts
  •  Previous experiences with an international NGO
  •  Very good technical affinity for media contexts including knowledge of a wide range of multimedia, web and digital tools
  •  Outstanding social media news writing and editing skills plus strong interpersonal skills
  •  Excellent command of English. (written, oral, comprehension) including highly developed drafting skills.
  •  Good photography and filming skills
  • Teamwork and good communication skills
