Job Description

Holy Family College of Nursing and Midwifery, one of the Mission Colleges under the umbrella of CHAM, owned by the Blantyre Archdiocese invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacancy:

POST: College Registrar


GRADE: H (P8)

RESPONSIBLE TO: The College Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Renewable Contract

BASIC QUALIFICATION: Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management or its equivalent

WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 4 years work experience

The College Registrar heads the Corporate Services of the College and reports directly to the College Principal. The Position holder Is responsible for providing sound Human Resource advice and support to help Management and the Council of Governors make key decisions.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acting as a Secretary to the Council of Governors and Management meetings and ensuring that all Governors and Management meetings take place and their proper records are kept,
  • Interpreting Holy Family College of Nursing’s policies and policy guidelines and overseeing their implementation,
  • Providing managerial and administrative advice and support to the Principal, Deans and Heads of Departments,
  • Handling administrative and Human Resource Management activities such as maintenance of Staff Establishment, recruitment and induction of new staff, performance management processes, staff welfare, staff discipline, industrial relations and termination of appointments,
  • Dealing with internal and external correspondences; and
  • Acting as a contact person between the Legal Counsel and the College on all legal matters involving the College.
  • Managing the College’s Establishment from recruitment to exit of employees,
  • Keeping payroll records up to date on a monthly basis by liaising with the Accounts Department of the College and CHAM,
  • Managing the Pension Fund at Old Mutual,
  • Ensuring that all Departments of the College carry out Open Annual Staff Performance Appraisals and assisting how to fill,
  • Interpreting and implementing Terms and Conditions of Service and Policies of the College to all cadres.
  • Staff Supervision,
  • Salary administration,
  • Administering training programs,
  • Recommending leave, loans and advances.
