 Job Opportunity – College Lecturer

 

Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is a locally registered NGO that has been operating in Malawi since 1995. Our mission is to work with the communities by promoting social and economic development through health, education training, food security and environmental programs. Our work towards development is guided by social cohesion and respect for humanity, driven by innovative and cost effective programs. Through a variety of development models, DAPP complements the government’s effort in implementing the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy.

 

DAPP Malawi has four teacher training colleges in Malawi; Chilangoma, Amalika, Dowa and Mzimba. The idea with the teacher training is to train local Malawian male and female youths to become primary school teachers for the rural areas of Malawi, teachers who are highly qualified in training teachers as well as fostering community development and are professionally founded to energetically think that learners in primary schools have the potential to become skilled and productive members of society.


DAPP Chilangoma Teacher Training College which is situated in Blantyre Rural and  invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant position of a Lecturer to teach the following subject combinations:

  1. Science and Technology
  2. Human Ecology



Job Summary


The successful applicants will be expected among other things to do the following;

  • Preparing schemes and records of work, Teaching subject areas according to DAPP Philosophy and Program which are in line with government curriculum, Assessing student teachers’ performance, Supervising student teachers professional conduct and Facilitating other extra-curricular activities



Qualifications, technical expertise, skills and knowledge


The applicant should be;

  • Highly motivated, flexible to learn and work with other teachers and students and also with the community.
  • Holder of Bachelor Degree of Education obtained from recognised institution and be able to teach given subjects
  • Have at least 5 years’ teaching experience and with broad knowledge of primary school education in Malawi.
