Job Description

Partners in Hope (PIH) is a Malawian NGO based in Lilongwe. In addition to operating a general clinic, inpatient ward and HIV/AIDS clinic, the program unit provides support to Ministry of Health and CHAM health facilities in eight districts from Chitipa to Nsanje. Teams are working to meet the 95-95-95 targets for HIV testing, retention in care and viral load suppression through training, mentorship, supervision and health systems strengthening.

Partners in Hope – under the Care and Treatment Grant is seeking to recruit highly motivated individuals for the following position:


Position: CLINICAL MENTORS (FACILITY BASED CLINICAL OFFICERS)


PLACES: Karonga, Chitipa, Nkhotakota, Kasungu, Dowa, Lilongwe, Chikwawa and Nsanje


POSITION’S OVERVIEW


The Clinical Mentor (Facility Based Clinical Officer) provides direct patient care and is licensed to perform general medical duties such as diagnosis and treatment of disease, ordering and interpreting medical tests, performing routine medical procedures and referring patients to senior medical practitioners when necessary. The Clinical Mentor is also responsible for building capacity through mentorship of facility based staff on HIV/TB care in order to meet the 95-95-95 Malawi treatment targets.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Peadiatrics ART optimization
  • HIV/TB Integration
  • Viral load testing and result management
  • ART Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD) models
  • Knowledge sharing and capacity building through mentorship
  • Clinical systems mentorship include HIV stock management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
  • 2nd line Certified HIV Provider with Diploma in Clinical Medicine
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS management
  • Demonstrated technical skills in HIV/AIDS care, treatment and support
  • Good communication and didactic skills in English and Chichewa Preferred
  • BSc. in Clinical Medicine
  • Operational research experience
  • Computer skills – minimum of Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
