Job Description

CIC-Africa Co-operatives Insurance Limited is a holding Company with two subsidiaries, namely; CIC General Insurance Limited and CIC Life Assurance Limited. The holding Company was incorporated in Malawi on 06th October 2014. CIC General Insurance Limited and CIC Life Assurance Limited would like to fill the following vacancy:




Reporting to the Managing Director, The Claims Manager is expected to perform but not limited to the following duties:

  • Continuous and critical analysis of all claims information and ensure any adverse factors are identified for corrective action
  • Approving all payable claims to insured and service providers within the set standards of service.
  • Setting performance standards/ benchmarks for all parties and ensuring and ensuring delivery under the service level agreements
  • Developing, documenting and executing claims strategies and procedures taking into account emerging trends, potential outcomes, recoveries and any associated costs.
  • Regularly reviewing claims reserves to maintain adequate and accurate reserves at all times
  • Preparing and presenting accurate and timely management reports and statutory returns
  • Identifying, appointing and maintaining a team of efficient and competent service providers
  • Resolving customers complaints and disputes swiftly and fairly to guarantee customer satisfaction.
  • Providing input to underwriters on review of potential or existing risks. Giving feedback on claims trends and their potential impact on the book.
  • Liaising with company lawyers and management on matters of claims litigations
  • Drafting and making recommendations on insurance policy documentation in conjunction with other departments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance
  • ACII qualified is a must
  • At least ten years of progressive work experience preferably in an Insurance industry of which five was at a supervisory level
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently
  • Strong skills in prioritization, organization and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated professional writing and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including outlook, word, Excel, and PowerPoint
