Job Description

Chief of Party

Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is a locally registered NGO that has been operating in Malawi since 1995. Our mission is to work with the communities by promoting social and economic development through health, education training, food security and environmental programs. Our work towards development is guided by social cohesion and respect for humanity, driven by innovative and cost effective programs. Through a variety of development models, DAPP complements the government’s effort in implementing the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy.



DAPP Malawi is inviting qualified and experienced persons to apply for a position as Chief of Party (COP) as a candidate for an upcoming USAID funded project which is to be implemented in Mulanje, Machinga and Mangochi Districts aiming at improving access to high-quality, person-centred TB, DR-TB, and TB/HIV services. This position is contingent upon the award from USAID. The position is expected to be based in Blantyre.


Specific responsibilities

This position will provide the overall technical and strategic direction, project and administrative leadership for the project, and would require an individual who is well rounded and appropriately experienced in design, implementation, management, and monitoring & evaluation of projects.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to

  • Manages all operations related to the program according to the work plan, program document and implementation strategy.
  • Troubleshoots, as needed, to prevent disruptions in daily program activities.
  • Provides overall supervision for the implementation of all program activities ensuring the program goals are met both in quantity and quality.
  • Work with the team to ensure that activities and results are monitored and evaluated in regard to effectiveness, efficiency and impact of the program’s components, and makes appropriate recommendations for improvement.
  • Work with the M&E team to ensure that the M&E systems of individual indicators are of high quality, providing regular impact and process data and that data collected meet the required standard.
  • Provides overall supervision for project’s financial management.
  • Ensures that lesson learned and best practices are well documented and shared widely for scaling up and adaptation.
  • Leads the reporting process to USAID and other partners.


 Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in public health or related field. A masters will be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience in successfully managing large, complex TB prevention, care and support project(s).
  • At least 5 years of supervision experience.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with the Government of Malawi authorities as well as other partners and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing USG rules and regulations related to USAID grant management, sub-contracting and reporting requirements.
  • Experience managing teams and building partnerships.
