Job Description

Press Agriculture Limited (PAL) seeks to engage the services of an experienced, visionary and pragmatic business executive to take up a challenging position of Chief Executive Officer tenable at its Head Office at Kulima House in Kasungu. The successful candidate is expected to reposition the company and lead towards improved operational efficiency and effectiveness within a liberalized business environment with a focus on enhancing shareholder value through sustainable growth and expansion. He/she is also expected to instill a sense of urgency in attaining the objectives set by the Board and improve on the initiatives already undertaken.


The successful candidate will be appointed on a renewable contract based on performance.


Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following key functions:

  • Overall in-charge of the company providing sound executive leadership, guidance and direction
  • Coordinates the formulation of strategic and annual plans for The company
  • Lead the management team in transforming the company into a viable and profitable operation
  • Restructure the company and rationalize its establishment into a lean corporate entity with a view to sharpening its business focus and reorienting corporate staff attitudes towards agricultural and commercial viability
  • Ensures that systems, policies and procedures that support PAL’s operations are in place and reflect its needs, and Mat they are strictly adhered to
  • Ensures human resource development in line with company policies and objectives
  • Provide overall supervision of financial management activities
  • Assesses the operations of each department within PAL and sets-up performance targets for specific periods
  • Ensures that departments meet their performance targets
  • Ensures strict adherence to the approved budgets
  • Prepares timely and pertinent reports to the Board of Directors on all company activities
  • Schedules board meetings and sets agenda items in liaison with the Chairperson and ensures that information and board papers are sent to the directors in advance; and
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the board from time to time.


  • This position requires a highly self-motivated and dynamic person with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration; MBA) or an equivalent relevant Professional Qualification from a recognized institution of higher learning. A first degree in Agricultural Economics or Agribusiness Management or indeed any relevant agricultural background will be an added advantage.

Minimum Experience:

  • Extensive corporate management experience with a strong financial management background with a minimum of ten (10) years hands-on experience in a busy environment in the private/business management sector.

  • Demonstrate ability to provide strategic team leadership and management
  • Experience in leading successful transformation efforts
  • Drive, excellent communication and interpersonal (people) skills
  • Be a self-starter and an effective team player
  • Strong negotiation skills; and
  • Be computer literate.
