Job Description

The National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) was established in Malawi through an Act of Parliament (Cap 53:05) of the Laws of Malawi to promote, regulate and develop the Construction Industry in Malawi.

The Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position in its establishment, to be based at the I-lead Office. The position is on permanent and pensionable terms.


Position: ASSISTANT TREASURY & MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT (GRADE NC 6)


based at the Head Office

Under the supervision of the Senior Treasury & Management Accountant, the requirements for the positions are as stipulated below:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Be aged 25 years and above
  • Be a holder of a full Malawi School Certificate of Education
  • Should possess Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or it’s equivalent
  • Should have Diplomate Membership with ICAM
  • Have a minimum of three years working experience in a busy working environment
  • Demonstrated Computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Should have self-drive, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and team working spirit;
  • Be able to work with minimum supervision and sometimes at odd hours
  • Be mature, trustworthy and dedicated to duty.
  • Should have excellent planning and prioritization skills;
  • Should be able to work odd hours and during weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities shall include but not limited to the following:
  • Collecting Construction Works Certificates from Consultants and/or Developers
  • Raising invoices against the Certificates
  • Following up on Construction Levy payments
  • Filing Construction Levy Certificates and receipts
  • Reconciliation of Construction Levy accounts
  • Capturing into the system Construction Levy receipts
  • Assist preparation for and attending external auditors
  • Proper record keeping of Levy documentation for easy retrieval
  • Prepare debtors reconciliation statements
  • Raising invoices for plant hiring operations
  • Perform related duties as required by the Supervisor from time to time.
