Job Description

Nkhoma University invites applications from qualified persons to fill the following vacancies at Nkhoma University Head Office in Lilongwe City.

Position: Assistant Registrar – Human Resource

Reporting to the University Registrar, the Assistant Registrar (Human Resource) will assist in carrying out functions of Human Resource in the University.


Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Implement HR policies and procedures;
  •  Coordinate staff recruitments, appointments, selection process, transfers and discipline;
  • Coordinate collection and collation of information to inform human resource policies in the University;
  •  Analyze utilization of human resources in the University and advise on proper deployment;
  •  Identify, design and oversee the implementation of training programmes;
  •  Coordinate preparation of personal emoluments budget;
  •  Coordinate development and maintenance of human resource database;
  • Coordinate implementation of performance appraisal system;
  •  Coordinating industrial relations and staff welfare;
  •  Provide advice to staff on pay and benefit systems;
  •  Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements relating to Human Resources;
  • Ensure preparation of quarterly and annual human resource reports;
  •  Process travel clearances; and
  • Facilitate meetings, conferences and other events;


  •  Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area with six (6) years working experience, 3 of which as a Senior Administrative Assistant or its equivalent;
  • Master’s degree will be an added advantage;
  • Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field;
