Job Description

The National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) was established in Malawi through an Act of Parliament (Cap 53:05) of the Laws of Malawi to promote, regulate and develop the Construction Industry in Malawi.

The Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position in its establishment, to be based at the I-lead Office. The position is on permanent and pensionable terms.


Position: ASSISTANT FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT— (GRADE NC 6)


Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the requirements for the position is as stipulated below:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Should be aged 25 years and above;
  • Should be a holder of a full Malawi School Certificate of Education;
  • Should possess Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or any equivalent relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Should be a Member of ICAM;
  • Should have a minimum of three years working experience in a busy working environment;
  • Should demonstrate Computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel;
  • Should have self-drive, excellent interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills and team working spirit;
  • Be able to work with minimum supervision;
  • Be mature, trustworthy and dedicated to duty;
  • Should have excellent planning and prioritization skills;
  • Should be able to work at odd hours and during weekends.


Duties and Responsibilities


The duties and responsibilities shell include:
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts in compliance with the generally accepted accounting practices;
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations;
  • Checking preparation of payment vouchers;
  • Preparation of the Journal Vouchers;
  • Capturing into the system all payments, receipts, journal vouchers, and supplier’s invoices;
  • Ensuring payments for all monthly bills for utilities and services have been paid on time to avoid penalties and disruptions;
  • Preparation of activities budgets in line with the approved budget;
  • Preparation of tax returns and remittances to MRA on time to avoid penalties;
  • Participate in the budget preparation;
  • Provision of information to external auditors;
  • Perform related duties as required by the Supervisor from time to time.
