Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following position

Position: Assistant Accountant

Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the successful candidate shall be responsible for company expense budget tracking, verification of payment documents and purchase orders, credit policy enforcement, supervising finance team, cash flow management, coordination of operating process in the department, confirmation unit sales costing/invoicing and management of fixed assets register.

Key Result Areas

  • Check expenditure requests to ensure compliance with budgets and notifies appropriate budget holders in the event proposed expenditures are outside budgets.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly departmental performance report and variance analysis.
  • Assist with preparation and review of expense budgets.
  • Maintain an asset register and issue periodic reports on physical status of the assets.
  • Ensure all fixed company assets are properly tagged as soon as delivered.
  • Coordinate and supervise timely and accurate preparation of all monthly schedules that are required for financial reporting.
  • Ensure that accounts receivables and payables are within agreed targets and limits.
  • Implement policies and procedures (manual and computerized) pertaining to the maintenance of accurate accounting records and report preparation.
  • Assist with the developing and monitoring of adherence to internal controls to avoid company losses.
  • Develop risk register and manage the risk.

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or any related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in accounting.
  • Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills.
  • Fully Certified Accountant will be added advantage.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge and awareness of financial industry status and trends.
