Job Description

Position: ADVOCACY COORDINATOR – BASED IN LILONGWE



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Advocacy Manager, the Advocacy Coordinator shall be responsible for:

  • Mobilize church leaders to influence policy, press for accountability and transparency among the duty bearers
  • Organize and facilitate capacity building trainings for various local and district level groups in budget literacy, human rights and good governance.
  • Provide effective logistics for Church leaders’ policy engagement meetings with parliamentarians and Ministers
  • Provide Monitoring and Evaluation support
  • Plan and execute project activities in line with agreed goal, objectives and indicators.
  • Prepare quality activity reports-highlighting outcomes and impacts of the project
  • Provide technical support on the project implementation to District Advocacy volunteers.
  • Work as a desk officer for the Ethics Peace and Justice Commission of the Association
  • Make regular presentation or share the project with district level stakeholders and provide effective linkages with other key stakeholders in the district
  • Monitor effective implementation of the program interventions
  • Facilitate conflict resolution meetings for some duty bearers.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Development related field, or journalism/ Communication, or Social Sciences
  • At least three years experience in planning, executing and reporting on a good governance, or human rights project
  • Substantial experience in qualitative report writing
  • Good experience working with Church leaders, Churches or Christian organizations
  • Must be a committed Christian with good standing with their local church
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and able to work in a team.
  • Ability to follow through and attend to details.
