Accounts & Administration Assistant

Checks Investments is a Partnership with an investment portfolio currently ranging from food catering hospitality, entertainment and events management. Creative Solutions for the Environment (CSE) preserves the environment through organizing, educating and empowering rural communities to reforest, build resilience, create alternative livelihoods and reduce poverty as we transition to a more eco-friendly and sustainable way of life. An opportunity has arisen for energetic and result oriented individual to fill in (on immediate basis) the vacant posts of Accounts & Administration Assistant at our Lilongwe Office.


Position: Accounts & Administration Assistant


REPORTING AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Accountant, the candidate will be responsible for:
  • Contributing towards improvement of finance and accounting policy and procedures;
  • Assisting with preparation of annual financial budget forecasts and periodic review of the same;
  • Timely service billing, collection and banking of all funds owed to the company and record keeping;
  • Assisting with maintenance of up to date fixed assets register;
  • Championing procurement and company inventory management (delivery, receiving, storage, issues, reordering, stocktaking, record-keeping, inventory valuation etc.);
  • Preparing periodic account reconciliations (bank accounts, receivables, payables, etc.);
  • Assisting with maintenance of complete and accurate tax records and remittance of tax returns to MRA;
  • Maintaining and updating cashbook and general ledger (GL);
  • Assisting with preparation of monthly management accounts and timely publishing of the same;
  • Assisting with preparation of annual financial statements and accompanying notes;
  • Providing clerical and administrative support to management as requested from time to time.

  • Flexibility: Must be able to work for long hours even at short notice to enable the organization to deliver its targets;
  • Adaptable and self-development: Must aspire to always learn and upgrade one-self in order to add relevant value to the organization.


Qualifications & Other Abilities
  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting or Finance from a reputable institution;
  • Advanced computer knowledge with an aptitude in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.);
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting and procurement roles from a recognized organization;
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English language;
  • Those with experience in hotel and NGO accounting practices will have an advantage;
  • A valid and clean motor vehicle driving license is a must.
