Job Description

The Wealthnet Finance is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Accountant tenable at its Head Office, Mvuma House in Lilongwe.



The Accountant will be reporting to the Finance & Administration Director.

 

Position: Accountant


PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

As a member of the Mvuma Group of Companies, the Accountant has a primary responsibility of timely and accurately processing of all accounting transactions, the monthly generation of necessary financial reports required by the office and the Board.



SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring effective Accounting and Control environment by performing quality checks of all vouchers and reviewing adjustment vouchers before submitting them for Supervisor’s approval.
  • Review all supporting documents and authorizations before vouchers are entered in
  • Review all supporting documents, authorizations and comply to relevant internal controls before vouchers are entered in QUICKBOOKS Accounting system.
  • Ensure all advance and fuel accounts are reconciled on as per the Company’s Policy.
  • Ensuring timely and high-quality preparation of all financial reports allocated to him/her on a monthly basis in compliance the Company’s guidelines and requirements.
  • Support on budget forecasting
  • Ensure adequate supporting documentation is attached to voucher before processing for payment
  • Ensure financial transactions are posted, reviewed and all miscoding and ineligible costs are cleared.
  • Review of all employees’ expense reports and timely preparation of Journal Vouchers
  • Track fixed assets of the organization using fixed asset Database and make regular physical inventory checks
  • Ensure financial transactions are reviewed with the Accounts Supervisor and agreed action points are taken
  • Ensure reconciliations are done timely on a monthly basis
  • Assist in the facilitation of external and internal audits by overseeing the preparation of required audit materials and coordinating all logistical requirements before audit take off.
  • Ensure follow-up on all external and internal audit recommendations.
  • Ensure previous audit recommendations are implemented
  • Ensure submission of PAYE and withholding tax for staff.
  • Performing any assignment delegated by the Supervisor from time to time.
  • Perform other duties as required.



QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 
  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited University with a minimum of three years’ work experience.
  • A professional accounting qualification will be an added advantage.
