Inter Aide specializes in carrying out development programs for particularly poor families. Since its establishment in 1980, the domains in which it acts have been water sanitation and hygiene, agriculture, health and school support.
These programs are set up in particularly isolated rural areas, where needs and population densities are both high, where few or no NGOs are involved, and where the local situation is stable enough to allow effective action towards populations self-reliance.
In 2018 Inter Aide carried out 9 programs in Malawi providing support to 59,590 families in the following fields:
The current areas of intervention are located in:
These areas of intervention are among the most densely populated in the country, which means the needs for basic services are high and access to land is limited particularly in rural areas which is where almost 80% of families live (and where the projects are implemented).
