In Malawi, MSF is an instrumental force in addressing crucial healthcare challenges. Our commitment extends throughout 2022, collaborating closely with the Ministry of Health to respond to emergencies such as severe cholera outbreaks and the aftermath of natural disasters. Despite Malawi's budgetary constraints and international donor challenges, MSF's resolve remains strong.

Our response to the tropical storm Ana, which struck in January 2022, showcases our swift action in reopening health centers and providing care. The cholera outbreak that followed prompted the establishment of treatment units and vaccination campaigns in Mangochi and Blantyre districts. Meanwhile, our unwavering commitment to combating cervical cancer led us to create comprehensive solutions, spanning prevention to end-of-life care.

In Chiradzulu district, our focus on HIV care included counseling, psychosocial support, and antiretroviral treatment. As we concluded this project in July 2023, we handed over responsibilities to local health authorities. Moreover, we've embraced community-based organizations, offering essential support to sex workers through HIV testing, treatment, and preventative measures.

Our presence in Malawi demonstrates MSF's dedication to holistic healthcare solutions. Despite challenges, we continue to champion better health outcomes for the people of Malawi.
